FABRICATION & ASSEMBLY
In our fabrication department, Formed Plastics offers the capability to produce high-quality finished parts without the expense of developing a hard tool. Our fabrication capabilities are ideal for prototype or small-volume applications that may serve as a precursor to a molded part. For large-volume jobs, our multiple 3-axis and 5-axis machining stations can perform tight-tolerance routing, drilling and machining to your specification.
Formed Plastics' first-rate line-bending capabilities allow us to rout and bend a wide array of thermoplastic materials into complex shapes. Common applications for our line-bending process include clear safety guards and housings for medical and industrial applications. We also specialize in enclosures that serve as a lightweight, cost-effective replacement for sheet metal in harsh applications.
Since many of our customers are looking for a part that is ready to go into a finished assembly straight "out of the box," we offer a wide variety of finishing services. These include:

This wide selection of finishing operations at our disposal allows us total control over quality and delivery and represents a substantial advantage over processors who are often at the mercy of their subcontractors.
Since no tooling is required, the possibilities for fabricated plastic parts are limited only by the bounds of imagination. Our team is happy to share its many years of expertise to help take your project to the next level.
Standard materials include polycarbonate, acrylic, PETG, Kydex, ABS, TPO, polyethylene and polypropylene.
Specialty grades of material include FDA-approved:
- 94V-0, 94V-2 and 94HB flame-retardant
- RoHS-compliant
- Conductive grades
We work closely with both material manufacturers and our customers to ensure selection of the most appropriate and cost-effective material for the application.
WATCH OUR FABRICATION TEAM IN ACTION
Formed Plastics entered the business in 1946 as a machining house, and this legacy is visible today in the wide array of secondary processes and fabrication methods that we have developed to meet the requirements of our diverse customer base. Our skilled machining team is well-equipped to handle jobs that require simple hand routing, drilling, or sawing operations. Projects with tighter tolerance requirements can be accommodated with our multiple 3-axis and 5-axis CNC routing machines.
Of course, Formed Plastics’ customers can always count on our engineering team for expert advice on selecting the most appropriate and cost-effective secondary operations. When on-the-fly adjustments are required, the highly skilled professionals in our tool room are capable of devising creative solutions for even the most complex manufacturing challenges.
As we develop customer relationships and work to meet new requirements, we are continually expanding our range of capabilities. No matter what the challenge or the requirement, we are confident that we can find a way to get it done right.
